I was looking back over some of my earlier pictures and came across this one of a potter wasp on a blue, possibly purple, allium flower. I had just gotten my Sigma 150mm macro and was testing it out for the first time. This was when I realized that depth of field was so impactful. And the downside of that shallow DOF, difficulty in getting the desired part in focus. But it was what got me hooked on macro. For this shot I really like how the allium melts into the smooth green background along with the wasp. The shallow DOF really creates a wonderful sense of depth.
This is neither a great or horrible photo but it holds a spot in my heart because it ties back to my connection with macro.
